Winter wonderland

Austin: I love this card because it has lots of glitter and sparkle which I love and has lots of character on this card.
My favourite part of the card is the glitter card background and the snowflakes is really pretty and the glitter houses is so perfect.

Sally: This card idea totally came from the embossing powder we heat embossed the snowflakes with. Kristina Werner recently did a card where she heat embossed one huge snowflake with some Brutus Monroe Rainbow Sparkle embossing powder & she mentioned that it looked amazing on black cardstock. We happened to have the Rainbow Sparkle embossing powder so I really wanted to try it out & from there this card idea just kind of manifested.

We didn't end up using black cardstock, just because I was worried it would look too dark, it was hard enough getting it to look less stark even with the Hero Arts reactive white ink & a ton of Salty Ocean distress oxide blended on top.
It's hard to show quite how sparkly the embossed snowflakes are in person. They're like dark navy blue when you look at them from one direction & then the next second they are insanely sparkly & awesome.

This isn't really a step by step kind of card, it really was very simple. We heat embossed some old Tim Holtz snowflakes with some Brutus Monroe Rainbow Sparkle embossing powder onto navy cardstock. Then we crossed our fingers & blended with the Hero Hues reactive ink in sea salt & the Distress Oxide ink in Salty Ocean until it looked the way we wanted it too making sure to wipe the extra ink off the snowflakes with a wet wipe.
Then we die cut Mama Elephant Hilly Neighbourhood out of Lawn Fawn Pixie Dust Sparkle, die cut the whole thing using My Favorite Things wonky stiched rectangles & added on characters from Mama Elephant Snow Friends.

Honestly the hardest part was sentiment, I had NO idea for so long. In the end we went with Simon Says Stamp Winter die (cut out of silver glitter paper) & a sentiment from the Hello Bluebird Typed Christmas set.
