Bright Starry Night

Austin: The best part is the sentiment and the trees and the background and the stars.

Sally: We do so many winter night cards we weren’t sure how to make something a bit new. So we didn’t. We took the key elements of our winter night cards & just simplified it, polished it & ended up with an elegant, sophisticated, clean & simple card (or as CAS as we get lol).

Continuing our favourites series we are using 3 of our favourites in this card, the stencil which is from Echo Park (similar to this one), the yeti who's from My Favorite Things & the trees which are from our oldest & most used Christmas Stamp set, we actually had to re-purchase the dies because they were so bent with use!
For years this kind of forest scene (although not much more crowded & not quite so pretty) was all Austin made. This year has really been the first year where they didn't make up roughly 60% of all his cards, it's been hard for me to keep up with all his new ideas honestly (he loves being able to share his ideas with all of you so much he has been working extra hard on his cards).

Do any of you actually find the step by step useful? Or even read the post? Let me know in the comments okay?

  • So for this card, it's actually a quick gradient watercolour background, then he used Nuvo Silver Gem Glitter Paste through the stencil & left it to dry.
  • In the meantime we grabbed out some trees from the box we have of extra's for quick card making, a yeti I had coloured earlier.
  • Then we stamped this sentiment from another set onto a hill we had in the extra's box.
  • When the glitter paste was dry we stuck it all together with foam tape & the card was finished.
It really was that easy. I think it helps that we've made A LOT of this kind of card. I'm not kidding, Austin makes 100-150 Christmas Cards a year & if even 50% of those were this style (& it was more) that was 50-75 cards a year x 3 = 150 - 225 of these kinds of cards made in 3 years.
Wow, I had so not thought of it like that before but yeah, there it is. Lots of cards.

Is there any kind of card you have made over & over? Especially when you were just starting card making? Let us know in the comments :)
